An imposing castle of major historical importance due to it's part in the English invasion during the 100 years' war. Having a great vantage point on top of a hill, the castle and it's town can be seen for miles! Recommended. Can be combined with the Gardens of Marquessac, Beynac or La Roc Gageac as all are in the same vicinity.

Château Castelnaud stands high on a cliff beside the Dordogne river. Fascinating to explore, and it even has a working trebuchet!

A must-see! A fortress on a hill overlooking the Dordogne River with a panoramic view. Other castles can be seen from this hilltop. The castle is filled with armament from several centuries and is interesting to visit.

A wonderful and important Medieval Chateau perched up above the Dordogne. The village is beautiful with restaurants and shops below. Hire Bikes and Canoes here, great fun. The best bakery in France?

Excellent museum of medieval warfare, great for kids and families, tremendous views of the Dordogne River Valley. Fascinating, well-restored medieval castle-fort.
