Old Rag Mountain is a 3,284 feet mountain near Sperryville in Madison County, Virginia. A part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the peak is located within Shenandoah National Park and is the most popular hiking destination within the park.

A little over an hour drive, this is one of the best exposed summit hikes in the area. It’s about a 9 mile hike will take you about 4 hours round trip. Mostly ascending trail hiking, but about 1/3 is a fun trek through rocks and boulders.

This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October.
