Combining a cocktail bar with a parlour lounge, Amelia Shaw is one of the best Melbourne bars, northside, tucked away above street level on Brunswick’s Sydney Road. Its Prohibition-era décor and ornamental oddities (a circular pool table?) perfectly complement the drinks menu, which covers everything from 1920s classics to modern-day staples. Above the Retreat Hotel on Sydney Road lies Amelia Shaw. Spread over four rooms, the haven-like bar and salon brings a bit of polish to Brunswick.

This 1920s bar has gone all out with the decor. It is so very charming, you can imaging yourself to be a guest of Jay Gatsby or a guest on The Titanic, which ever suite your disposition.
