The National Park visitor centre is great place to check the conditions within the National Park and there's many items of interest inside.

The closest thing we have to a cultural hub in Coles Bay. Great selection of books, Tasmanian nature, Tasmanian history and Aboriginal culture, Tasmanian food and children's books. They also have a good range of rain jackets, soft toy animals and souvenirs, souvenir clothing and postcards and Tasmanian scenery posters and some artwork. You can pick up a Parks Pass here too, along with advice on walking tracks in the Park.

The visitors centre has plenty of suggestions for many walks in the Park from sitting on the beach at Honeymoon Bay or doing the hill climb to view world famous Wineglass Bay or the drive to look at the lighthouse and coastline from Cape Tourville or the wild beaches like Friendly Beaches or day walks down the peninsula to Hazards Beach or overnight walk to Cooks Beach.

Freycinet is a great place to go bird watching. You may be lucky enough to see a white-bellied sea-eagle gliding overhead or large Australasian gannet diving for food in the ocean.
