Koke'e state park is a must stop on the way up to the mountain. You can stop to eat in the restaurant or in the beautiful park with the FAKE state bird (the Canadian bird) the NENE goose. You can hit the museum to learn of the history. Before you hike, stop at KRCP behind the museum to get information on the invasive and endemic species. They also do guided tours. They are non-profit, so if you love their information please donate or tip your guides.

Must have a permit to enter park area to access beach- great snorkeling and an awesome spot to relax and swim after hiking.
