The sand dunes in Akaroa are gigantic and absolutely beautiful. Make sure it isn’t too windy would be our advice ! If you can find something to slide on, you could entertain the kids or yourself for hours.

Peron Dunes.... part of the St Helens National Park aprox 30 mins north of Falmouth just before you enter St Helens township... follow St. Helens Point Road out towards Akaroa the actual Dune system is so beautiful... a lunar landscape which with the kids we slide down on old boogie boards or cardboard...but incredible to walk around and take in the view.. the beaches to enjoy here are Maurouard Beach (Peron Dunes beach) and Beerbarrel Beach .. it’s a bit vaguely sign posted but just follow the tracks and you’ll find them ...

A 15 minute drive from St Helens the Peron Dunes are worth visiting. Ignore the first sign and go an extra 5 minutes until you see the second sign where the dunes are bigger, cleaner and give fantastic views to the ocean

Beautiful white sandy dunes fantastic views out to the point. Great to surf down on a boogie board (on sunny days you get a lot of reflective sun from the sand make sure you have applied sunscreen)
