Really cool place to come check out if you’ve got the time! It’s about 30-45 minutes outside of Colorado Springs and has some cool formations. No dogs or climbing is allowed, but the trails lead up into some of the rocks which make for some really cool adventuring and photo ops.

A hidden gem of the plains is just 40 minutes away. The Pain Mines Interpretive Park is a state park with hiking trails through colorful rock formations. It is a small park where you can spend an hour or all day. Don't forget your water and sunscreen.

Just 45 minutes east from here, this is a 3.4 miles of trails that feature beautiful wildflowers and is good for all skill levels. It covers 750 acres, containing grassland and geological formations of hoodoos, colored clay and sandstone-capped spires. The site is protected by law because of the fragile environment, as well as the geological and archaeological significance of the artifacts, rocks, animals and plants. Each year the park is visited by birdwatchers, hikers, geological enthusiasts and anyone looking for an other-worldly escape. This is a beautiful hike on a sunny day with multi-colored and layered rocks that you can walk around and between.
