The Church with the Moon, also known as the Cathedral of the Assumption, is a Christian-Orthodox church located in Oradea, built between 1784-1790. It was named after a unique mechanism in Europe, located on the church tower, which is meant to set in motion a sphere with a diameter of 1 m, the shape of the moon, painted half black, half gold. This sphere moves according to the rotational motion of the Moon around the Earth and shows, by its rotation, all the phases of the Moon.

The unique mechanism that makes a complete rotation around its axis in 28 days is bound to impress you, whether you are passionate about clocks or not. It is designed to make a complete rotation around its axis in 28 days, thus indicating the Moon phases, depending on the daily cycle marked by the clock’s mechanism. On the centre wheel of the clock you can still read today, in German, details about its designer: "Georg Rueppert in Grosswardein, 1793" (Georg Rueppert in Oradea Mare, 1793). Construită între anii 1784-1790, Biserica cu Luna, a fost denumită astfel datorită unui mecanism unic în Europa, aflat pe turla sa, care are menirea de a pune în mișcare o sferă cu diametrul de 1 m, de forma lunii, vopsită jumătate în negru, jumătate în auriu. Această sferă se deplasează după mișcarea de rotație a Lunii în jurul Pământului și arată, prin rotirea sa, toate fazele Lunii.
