Just passed Lake Wallenpaupack this sanctuary sports 10 miles of hiking trails of varying difficulty. And the road up to it is scenic and beautiful. It's a favorite nature getaway.

I love this sanctuary. It has multiple trails, one of which has a dock and bench about half way through the mile-long trail. I usually bring a book and read at the dock, with the only interruption being the sweet wild-life that nest in these trails. It's very quiet, and the trails are easy to navigate. *Watch out for small orange lizards, they're easy to miss while walking be careful not to step on them :)

The most notable feature of Lacawac Sanctuary is Lake Lacawac - a 52 acre glacial lake preserved in almost pristine condition (totally free from development or encroachment). The Lake was declared a National Natural Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1966

Wildlife preservation sanctuary along Lake Wallenpaupack. Former private residence in the Great Camp, now an event location and wildlife protection area.
