How I heard of this place: It was over a decade ago when I first learned of Farestart, its mission and the reason I often recommend the space to friends and colleagues interested in a lunchtime restaurant suggestion. Type of cuisine: Five star food served in a modern setting and three star prices. Extraordinary and well-known local chefs offer their time and energy to provide training and expertise in crafting beautiful fare for the masses at (more) affordable prices.

FareStart received the "Humanitarian of the Year" award from the 2011 James Beard Foundation Awards for providing culinary job training to nearly 5,000 disadvantaged people in the past 19 years.
