When you cross the Erasmus Bridge (highly recommend doing this by night!) you get to the 'Kop van Zuid'. Here, you'll find the famous Hotel New York. If you walk further, there is much more to see in this neighbourhood. From Kop van Zuid you can walk towards Katendrecht, the old China Town of Rotterdam. This is now a lively, multicultural neighbourhood with large red brick buildings and old warehouses. Situated around the Deliplein (square) are lots of restaurants and bars. Also recommended is the Fenix Food Factory where you can drink local beers (Kaapse Brouwers) and try a range of food.

Beautifful modern architecture easy to get to and nice to walk around. Have a drink at the Nhow hotel. Or walk the bridge to katendrecht. And discover the phoenix foodfactory where all the locals go and there is an amazing brewery and foodstalls

Architecture aficionados will be astounded by this peninsula. The world's most famous stars of architecture have erected buildings here. Álvaro Siza, Renzo Piano, Francine Houben, Norman Foster – and Rotterdam's own Rem Koolhaas. His soaring De Rotterdam complex is the most striking edifice. The three linked towers are nearly 150 metres high, forming a ‘vertical city’ of high-class flats, a 4-star hotel, offices, shops, restaurants, fitness and parking facilities. Amidst all those gleaming high-rise towers, several buildings still recall an era when throngs of European passengers departed from this spot, heading off to America on steamboats. The Cruise Terminal is one example, where the most majestic cruise liners now drop anchor. Another is the famous Hotel New York, where robust nautical elements still offer echoes of all those migratory continentals. Several old warehouses and a number of newer buildings now house cultural institutes and restaurants. With the arrival of the Nederlands Fotomuseum, the LantarenVenster arthouse cinema and the Luxor Theater, the Kop van Zuid peninsula has become a veritable hotbed of culture.

Kop Van Ziud is a veritable peninsula of starchitects - Rem Koolhaas, Renzo Piano, Norman Foster and Mecanoo have all built here – and it’s also home to the Hotel New York, one of the city’s most iconic, landmark buildings.

Nice area that has been developed these last 20 years from absolute no-go area to the place to be. Lantaren Venster (Cinama), Nederlands Fotomuseum (Museum for photography) and Hotel New York (great restaurant, try the fish & seafood platters) are some of the hotspots.
