Alexandria has great shopping and restaurants.
There is always something to do or see in DC. Museums, restaurants, shopping, monuments, bars and lounges are plentiful in DC. We personally love to visit the city by train or Uber. Parking can be challenging and expensive in DC. If you prefer to drive during your visit, we recommend using parking apps or sites like spothero.

Public Transportation
WMATA is one of the local transportation authorities in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. https://www.wmata.com
You will need a Metro card to ride the trains which can be purchased at any of the local stations. Wmata's website is useful for locating train stations, and times for trains and buses. Beware of the time for the last train or bus at night depending on where you are coming from. You may get to the station thinking a train is delayed when it has stopped running for the night. Feel free to ask us questions if you'd like to use WMATA's services.
