Voted in the top 20 of Europe's Best Beaches in the Sunday Times, Whipsiderry Beach is a hidden gem in Newquay. Quiet and sheltered, it is a beautiful beach surrounded by cliffs and boasting rock pools and caves that offer hours of fun exploring. At low tide these rock pools and caves are revealed, while the sand is dry and sheltered making it ideal for sunbathing. Despite being situated within a stone's throw of Newquay, Whipsiderry has a very different, wilder feel than the town beaches. There are no facilities, and please do not leave rubbish as there are no bins at the bottom leave only your footsteps. Access is via steep flight of stairs clinging to the cliff face and there is an enormous island in the middle of the cove. At low tide the sands stretch around half a mile to Watergate Bay. PLEASE WATCH TIDE TIMES!! Care should be taken when walking this stretch as the tide can cut you off. At higher tides Whipsiderry all but disappears. In case you wondered, he name of the beach is derived from two mining terms 'Whips' and 'Derrick

Crantock Beach an amazing huge beach with caves to explore, see if you can find and only at low tide the mythical Crantock rock carving, A woman’s face, carved beside a horse and a poem? Family Friendly Toilets, car park, National trust car park and privately owned car park with cafe and beach shop. River Gannel opens out into the sea and make a great place to paddle board up the river. Paddle boarding lessons can be found here www.biggreensurfschool.com. Or just a walk up the river at low tide is well worth it. The Fern pit cafe can be reached from the beach by a ferry at high tide. See guide book for further info.

Another great place to visit, follow the signs for Redruth and continue along the A30 to St Ives, you may consider parking at St. Erth Station and get the train into St. Ives a great trip, as parking can be difficult in the summer months. A good mix of shops, bars and restaurants in St. Ives come of which have good vantage points so that you can enjoy the view while you are eating. It is lovely just wandering through the small streets and taking in the atmosphere.

A visit to Padstow is a must, if you take the road to Porth and follow the coast road to Padstow. It will take you around 40 minutes, it is advisable to park at the top of Padstow in the summer months. There are some great views along the coast road and you could stop off at Bedruthen Steps on the way. Padstow is a lovely small fishing village, the shops, coffee bars, pubs and restaurants are good and if you really feel like splashing out you could visit Rick Steins Fish Restaurant.

This is a good day out, it will take you about an hour to get to Falmouth, the harbour here is quite large and there are lots to see on the water. You can get a river Taxi from Truro to Falmouth which is a great day out. There are lots of shops, bars and restaurants, Falmouth is kept busy as the University is here. From Falmouth you can get a ferry to St. Mawes and here you can take in the views of the estuary and see lovely cottages and small shops, there are also a couple of good bars and eating places

Truro is the main City in Cornwall, take the signs for Redruth and Truro is signposted off to the left, it takes about 30 minutes. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants to visit and the Cathedral in the centre. (the café in the Cathedral is worth a visit for coffee, lunch and cake). Parking is not too bad, follow the signs to the car parks on the way in.

Ok now I probably shouldn't tell you about this one! As I my very well get linched for it! The best Thai food in Newquay, be prepared to order and have to wait a very long time at the weekend! quieter times we've noticed are Sunday and Wednesday's. Now we are Vegan for health reasons and have been for several years, but number 35 (locals favourite, known as crack chicken!) I've got to say is our only down fall and only once a month!!!!
