Star the pony and I will meet you at our meeting point where we will carry out introductions and cover safety tips, before we head off for the walk. We will walk up the lane and through the fields, going at the ponies pace and allowing them to browse on the plants in the hedgerows. We’ll also collect cuttings and weeds to take back with us for their pony friends (in season only). You will learn about wild plants and trees and how they benefit the ponies diet, plus more about pony care and behaviour. We will finish the walk back at the pony field where you will brush their coats and manes and tails, before turning them back out to the field. We serve a cold drink and slice of cake for you to enjoy whilst watching the ponies graze surrounded by beautiful scenery. You will be able to really get to know the ponies as individuals and see their different characters and personalities. With a calm and gentle approach, it won’t take long before they are queueing up for a scratch from you. Other things to note This is a leisurely walk that is perfect for animal lovers. If you cannot see a date or time that suits you, please contact me to request another date. All children must be accompanied by an adult. No open toed shoes or sandals. The ponies cannot be ridden, this is for walking and grooming only. Only one child under the age of 6 per group for safety.

It is said that bees enjoy a secret life, but there is a fascinating story behind that life that should be made available for all to witness! Join us for a "Bee incredible" journey, as we explore the work of Apiarists (Beekeepers). You will be guided on a 1.5 to 2 hour tour (depending on the size of the group) encompassing the miraculous work of bees. Bees undertake the extraordinary important job of helping to mature and grow many of the plants we enjoy and providing a food source - honey - that is globally consumed and universally loved. If you're feeling exceptionally brave, you can don a full protective gear and open a bee hive for a closer look into the habitat of bees, the Brood Box (nest). Observe the Queen bee laying eggs, while learning about the unique roles and responsibilities of drone and worker bees. You'll be able to taste the honeycomb (if available) and sample sweet honey from the source; which has been used for centuries for its naturopathic or medicinal purposes. This tasty, unique and exceptionally enlightening experience in beekeeping is a can't miss opportunity for nature enthusiasts and is appropriate and entertaining for all guests ages 8 and up. If you have a large group and need a special date and time, please send a special request. I am consistently listed as 1 of the top 3 Experiences in Metro Atlanta. You will not be disappointed. Other things to note All participants will need to sign a waiver of risk before the Bee Experience. Starting October 1, 2019 through Spring of 2020, all reservations will be subject to weather conditions. If the temperature is below 55° F or raining, the Bee Experience will be cancelled and rescheduled.

After meeting at the farm, we will head straight out into the woods and fields to explore seasonal Scottish wild food. Our walk starts down the hedgerow, were we will look at common hedgerow plants that make excellent additions to the kitchen. Depending on the season, that may be sloes, blackberries, cherries, yarrow, hogweed, plaintain, rosehips, and many more. Before we head into the woods, we will stop at our woodland campsite for a quick cup of coffee, tea or wild herbal infusion, We will then go into the forest to hunt for edible mushrooms. We will cover only those mushrooms that are easily identified and with no close non-edible lookalikes and in season. While in the woods, we will talk about where to forage and the laws around foraging in Scotland. We won't just cover food uses, on our walk, we will also cover some medicinal herbs and plants that are used for natural dyeing. We will head back to our farm where we will get to sample a selection of wild food, some we make together if in season, before we help you pack up your finds and say goodbye. Everyone leaves with a copy of our Wild Kitchen guide and recipe book. We follow strict COVID procedures and have put in cleaning and social distancing protocols. We ask that while in our farm shop and workshop spaces, you keep a mask on unless seated.

Your private group (up to Six) will learn the process of making maple syrup from sap. I will guide you through a tasting of this years syrup and explain how to grade maple syrup. We will then try some sugar on snow you will never forget! Maple sap runs when the days are above 38 degrees and the nights are below freezing. If the sap is not running, I will boil water (sap is 97% water) and for the class if sap is not running during the class. If the dates that we have listed don't work for your time frame, just send me an email and I can see if we can find another time for your truly Vermont experience. We will have a maximum of 6 people since the sugar house is small and Covid Regulations from the State of Vermont- we are not a giant production house that does thousand of gallons per year. Children under 5 are free. We at most make 50 gallons, most of which I bottle in my handblown glass! Other things to note Part of the experience will be outside to see how sap flows from the tree into lines hung on maple trees. Inside the sugar house, we'll have the evaporator boiling (sap in season water the other times) . Mask are required.
