A charming small pub in the centre of the city. There's a small snug (one table) by the entrance that has its own private access to the bar. Get there early to secure this coveted spot. They have a large collection of whisk(e)ys from around the world. Gets busy on Friday and Saturday evenings. Tv, no music. If you fancy something a bit more lively go next door to Doyle's.

John's favourite pub in the city. Also Whiskey Bar of the Year 2020 in Ireland. They have an absolutely enormous selection of whiskeys from around the world and the Guinness is nothing short of phenomenal. The best thing about the place, though, is the atmosphere and the service from the staff. If you're wondering what an Irish pub looks like in Ireland, you couldn't do much better than dropping in here for a drink. This is where we brought our wedding guests after we got married in 2016. There's little in the way of food but if you're really hungry, ask for a toastie (toasted ham and cheese sandwich). They're delicious.
