A short easy walk to the top of Mt Tomaree will reward you with excellent views of Nelson Bay. Very well marked with an alternative track to the site of former gun emplacements on the ocean side of the peak.

About a 30 minute drive from Medowie. If you feel energetic, try a climb up Mount Tomaree. It's a bit of a hike but well worth it when you reach the top. You'll have uninterrupted views of Port Stephens and all the beautiful surrounding beaches, across to Tea Gardens and Hawkes Nest and down the Stockton Sand Dunes

Great views from the summit. Quite accessible for most ages with moderate fitness. Historic interest with WW2 gun emplacements
