A trip to the National Gallery of Art is one of the top things to do in Washington, DC. Not only will you be stunned by the scale and scope of its exhibitions, but you’ll also be moved by the immerse amount of meaning that the gallery holds for the United States of America.
A stunning space, with an attached sculpture garden that has an ice rink in the winter.
If you dig art, go get lost...epic collection. Free. And then you can just walk the mall to the Capitol or the Lincoln Monument...
Lovers of art who appreciate collections from all over the world would love touring this museum.
This is probably the only place I have been asked to leave. My 2 year-old child snuck into a purse and decided to take a crayon to add to an impressionist painting. Before I knew it, two guards were chasing him, and I was chasing them with a stroller. The toddler could run and they never caught him…
Take a leisurely stroll through this museum to admire art through the ages - you may come back twice! Wear your best walking shoes

“(4.5 miles) We have probably spent more hours here than any other place in DC. There is something for everyone including hands-on demonstrations, 3-D IMAX movies ( these cost), and a McDonalds that sometimes has aircraft from the museum in their Happy Meals. Even if you’re an adult, it may be worth it to order a couple of Happy Meals.”

“The National Museum of the American Indian is a museum in the United States devoted to the culture of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. It is part of the Smithsonian Institution group of museums and research centers. This space is gorgeous, and we love the outdoor water feature that is made to look like a waterfall. ”
