Climb the ancient steps and walk around the battlements imagining King Charles I imprisoned here. Home to the famous donkeys that walk on the wheel and raise the water from the well. English Heritage.
Carisbrooke Castle is a historic motte-and-bailey castle located in the village of Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, England. Charles I was imprisoned at the castle in the months prior to his trial.
Carisbrooke Castle, a wonderful English Heritage site. Medieval fortress, great for exploring inside and out. See the donkeys demonstrating how water was pulled up from the well. Pets are also welcome on leads on the outside areas. Some lovely walks around the castle and great for picnics.
