Civic Center Park hosts several festivals each year. Beautiful gardens are maintained within the historical buildings and monuments.

Just a 2 block walk, this park hosts the capitol and other municipal buildings. The history museum is nearby and there is an Ai Wei Wei outdoor exhibit of the Chinese zodiacs. I will also mention that there are a lot of homeless people here. If that makes you uncomfortable, I recommend you skip this park. That being said, I stroll there often (as a fan of Ai Wei Wei and local activist efforts) and I've never encountered an experience that felt unsafe or threatening.
