For all you history buffs out there or just for someone who wants to get some fresh air and exercise this is a great free place to visit! There are so many other battlefields in the area to include Fredericksburg, cfredericksburg Chancellorsville, and Wilderness. So take your pick you can't go wrong!

In May 1864, Confederate forces clashed with the advancing Union Army in the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, which lasted for the better part of two weeks and included some of the bloodiest fighting of the Civil War.

What's better than visiting a well-interpreted major Civil War battlefield? Visiting four of them! (Though not in the name, Chancellorsville National Battlefield and Wilderness National Battlefield are also part of the same park.) There is plenty here to hold the interest of the casual observer. One driving map shows easy-to-follow color-coded driving tours for each of the four sites. You can get out and walk the fields and trails firsthand, or simply read signs in each small parking area. Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville also both have excellent visitor centers. This is approximately 25 minutes away.
