A short but steep 3mi hike with a big payoff. If you’re a morning person, or want to pretend for a day, this is a great sunrise hike. Give yourself at least 2hrs to drive out and hike up. Don’t forget your thermos of coffee and some warm layers for watching the sunrise! As with all hikes, make sure you check the conditions. Traction may be needed well into June.

Chief Mountain Trailhead is only a one hour drive from our AirBnb. A steady incline and about 3.1 miles round trip. There is a beautiful 360 panoramic view above tree line and mountains. This hike offers the best views. While it is a high altitude hike with significant climb & it's not very long& the views are worth it.
