This was Princess Diana's spa of choice and was also used in the Kylie/Robbie video for 'Kids'! Day spas are available and it's best to book a little way in advance but sometimes that have cancellations so it's worth a try on the day. One of the largest spas in the UK, there are several different saunas, steam rooms and pools as well as swimming treadmills, a gym and an outside pool plus hot tubs. The outside sunbathing area is a great spot to pretend you're somewhere exotic (if the weather is right!) The all-you-can-eat salad bar is absolutely superb... it is so extensive and also includes hot meals and meats so don't let the word 'salad' put you off! Pure luxury. Try not to accidentally sleep your way through too much of your day on the heated loungers...! P.S I don't consider this an 'essential', it is simply the category under which 'Spa' falls!

A wonderful spa where you can relax, have a massage or just sit in the bubble pool. Later on when your feeling peckish, you can either have a slice of cake! Or sample their wonderful lunches or dinner. There is a spa garden with outside pool and jacuzzi's. Inside there is a flotation pool you simply must try and quiet areas you can simply just doze. There is something for everyone.

For a truly pampered experience, Nirvana Spa in Sindlesham, south east of Reading offers day and members clubs. Choose from a flotation pool, hydrotherapy pool, spa garden pool as well as gym, classes and a restaurant. 24 minutes drive from The Penthouse at Hewitt.

This has to be the best Spa in the area, indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzis, fitness pool, gym, treatments and more.

This is my favourite Spa in the UK! It's around 45 - 50 mins drive but worth spending the day. They have the most amazing selection of pools, steam rooms, saunas etc but the Celestial Floatation is off the scale. You book your "Float" and spend 20 mins floating in the salt water under the celestial ceiling. The current takes you gently around and it's just so so relaxing - heavenly! Nirvana is based in Wokingham.
