Great traditional pizza's and pasta's. Go early or make a reservation because it's very popular in the neighboorhood. If you like pizza or pasta, skip the tourist traps in the center and choose quality. Good prices too.

Became the most popular restaurant and hang out place for Hipsters and locals. Always a crowd, always busy. When it's warm its; great to hang out on the terrace. And the food is good too

I little bit out of the way but well worth it if you like turkish food. It's really delicious and also for vegitarians they have a good choice. The family that runs the restaurant make you wanna come back. They are so super nice. And the food... YUM!

Best place in town to have a dim sum. If you like chinese Dim Sum go here on saterday or sunday afternoon. Best is around 12 or 1 am. Warning: the place is packed with locals and Chinese and sometime you have to wait for half an hour orso. But it;s well worth it. It's the restaurant on the 1st floor so don't confuse it with the one on the groundfloor. Go and be adventurous in your choice!

Chinese? Yes, chines, this is the best in town. No doubt! Totally cheap. the portions are huge and the quality of the food is fantastic. It's always full with Chinese and locals. Not a lot of tourist because of the horendous interior design of the restaurant. It looks AWFULL. But the food.... you will come back for more. Most of the times you have to wait but it's worth it. And don't mind the waiters.... they can be as rude as in China.... btw... if you are lucky... you will get the table at the window. There is 1...... so if you can.... ask for it... it's BY FAR the best table in the restaurant. Oh... and take the steamed Oysters as entree.... OMG!

Dutch?? Yes, in Holland we also have traditional dutch food. Normally it's rare to find it in a restaurant because we Dutch eat it at home but here you can try a lot of good dishes. Most of the dishes are 'farmers' food as I call it and best when you are hungry and it's cold outside. For 20 euro you can have a mix if 4 or 5 dishes. Bit strange but I guess a good way to try it.... Since you are never gonna eat Dutch food outside Holland why not go for it. Be sure you skip your lunch if you go for dinner!

One of the last notorious institutes of the Amsterdam LGBT scene. Only on sunday night!! The door opens at 10 pm and be EARLY. 9.30 is a good time to go. After the door opens it fills within 15 minutes. At 10.15 its; sold out.... then its 1 out, 1 in... the wait can be 2 hours if you come too late. The non-commercial dike and faggot disco De Trut was founded in the early eighties. Profit was never the main goal of De Trut. From its beginning until the present, good atmosphere, good music, affordable prices and a safe environment where dikes, trans people, and fags can party together has always been first and foremost.

Cycling!! Go on a cycle tour to Marken. On of my favorites. It has all: then city center of Amsterdam, the wonderful small houses on the dyke in Amsterdam Noord, Small fishing villages, the countryside. You wouldn't believe it but in less then 30 minutes cyling you are in the middle of nowhere only with grass, farmers, cows, beautiful lakes.. its gorgeous. one of the most beautiful rides to go to. Take a FULL day and enjoy it.

Parks & Nature
So much better then the Vondelpark! Westerpark is much more diverse and fun then the Vondelpark and you will find lots of locals here. The park had an old part (looks like Vondelpark... maybe the same architect?), a cultural side with cinema's, restaurants, clubs etc, and a new part which is most popular in summer.
