Maungatautari Mountain has a pest-proof fence surrounding it which keeps out the vermin and other pests that prey on native species. We are now able to release birds such as Kiwi with sound mind that they will be able to reproduce and therefore increase their numbers, away from predators.
It's currently free of charge, although donations are very welcome.

If you're keen on walking, cycling or running, the Waikato River Trails is a must. There are plenty to choose from, two being a 10 minute drive away.
