Parks & Nature

6 May Park is a Central Park of Batumi. It's one of the oldest public parks in Georgia and contains a beautiful lake, children’s rides, a Dolphinarium, a Zoo and an Aquarium. Construction of the park began in 1881 when the Prussian gardener Resler was engaged to design a garden. In 1888, the Russian Emperor Alexander III visited and planted Magnolia. To honor this event, the park was named “Alexander Garden”. The park has undergone several reconstructions, the latest in 2006 when it was renamed “6 May Park”. Name is given after May 6th, 2004 Rose revolution of Adjara, the full restoration of Georgia's jurisdiction in Adjara, and it indeed is a very significant date.

Most important destination for everybody visiting Batumi in the summer. Construction of the 7 km seaside boardwalk begun in 1881 by the famous Prussian gardener and landscape architect Ressler. Two years after the project began, Ressler passed away and Michael D’alfons, a French architect, completed the boulevard. Recently, a Spanish architect designed and constructed a new, modern addition for the boulevard. The coastal line of the boulevard has been beautified with bungalows, café-lounges, restaurants, children’s attractions, benches, sculptures and dancing fountains - making it one of the city’s most attractive tourist destinations.

Food Scene

150m from our apartment! If you are not a fan of the fast food, you can at least get some ice-cream and worth capturing some photos. Spectacular new McDonald’s restaurant in Batumi designed by Harvard-educated architect Giorgi Khmaladze. But you’d be hard-pressed to identify this cantilevered-glass spaceship of a building as a restaurant, much less a mundane McDonald’s. The exterior is covered by 460 glass panels, while the entire building is surrounded by a reflecting pool whose flowing lines mimic the jazzy shapes from 1950s wallpaper. The interior features dining areas that look out onto the reflecting pool and an open-air patio featuring a surprisingly large expanse of vegetation.
