This magical place was one of the major reasons Geoff moved to Colombia. We have been going ever since, and make sure you are treated like royalty if you want to go check it out. Best starters are: papas criollas, arepa de choclo, arepa de queso antioqueño, chicharrón and empanaditas de Andrés. Main courses: Lomo al Trapo and Lomo Sellado. Drinks: your first drink must be a Mandarino!

It has since been assimilated into sprawling Bogotá, but still maintains the charm of old with its Colonial houses and picturesque plaza. On weekends you can wander through a lively street fair to find all sorts of souvenirs or oddities. There are a bunch of great restaurants as well.

Usaquen is a short taxi ride from our apartment, and used to be an independent town from Bogotá. It has since been assimilated into sprawling Bogotá, but still maintains the charm of old with its Colonial houses and picturesque plaza. On weekends you can wander through a lively street fair to find all sorts of souvenirs or oddities. There are a bunch of great restaurants as well.
Sightseeing
Geoff didn't go see this until his 6th year living in Bogotá, when he took his parents. The place is pretty amazing, an underground cathedral carved out of a salt mine that still works to this day. A tourist trap, but a cool one. Plus Zipaquira is a cute town to visit, so this makes a great half day trip since it is only 45 minutes outside of town.

Just a few blocks away from us are three shopping centers: Andino, Atlantis and Retiro. Andino and Atlantis have movie theaters, and all three have decent restaurants and the obvious food courts.

Getting Around
The Calle 85 and Virrey Transmilenio stops are just four blocks from our apartment. If you plan on going north or south on a budget, then it makes sense. Also great for going to the airport with just a carry taking the K23/B23 bus back and forth.

Parks & Nature
If you're looking to get a little bit of exercise in, or just want to take a morning stroll in the fresh air, Virrey Park offers up a jogging loop and bike path. Also terrific for pets. Best of all it is right out our front door!

While we are pretty much retired from going out, the Zona T and its surrounding areas are where the best nightlife is. We are happy to recommend a variety of options for you to go check out including salsa, crossover - a mix of all sorts of music, and electronic).
