We love this surf school. Really friendly stall, great teachers and beautiful beach to surf on. All equipment and tuition is included in the class price. We recommend booking a batch of classes to really deepen your learning for a cheaper price overall.
Alternatively you can just hire wetsuits, surf boards, body boards etc and go and have fun by yourself. Even if its cold on land it will often be warmer in the sea - especially with your snug wetsuit. Warmest times in the sea are September through to November. Coldest times in the sea are March /April.

A beautiful land based sculpture park about 30 min drive east from our house. We love it! A wide variety of artists are shown and the site is beautifully natural set in a wild wooded valley. The main house also houses an indoor art gallery, great food and teas - yummy!

Our favourite 'Indian' restaurant in Bideford. Easy to pop over the bridge in 5 mins for a delicious takeaway. The food is actually mostly Bangladeshi and not high in salt and oil like most similar restaurants.

You'll need a car but its worth the 30 min drive there to see the fabulous geological rock formations and walk the stunning coastal path heading towards cornwall. This area is wild and rugged so plan for all weathers! There is also a beach here and a pub to eat at.

Ignore the map...its outside our front door!. This is a 50 mile car-free route popular with hikers, bicyclers and runners. If you turn left its 25 miles into mid-Devon. Just a 10 min walk this way you will find a beautiful marshland nature reservation alongside the river and further up a wonderful view from the old iron bridge. If you turn right its 25 miles towards Barnstaple and beyond. Win - Win! You will find a railway cafe every 4/ 5 miles along this route the whole way. [Most close about 4pm]. If you fancy renting a bike head left and walk 5 mins - you will see the bike hire place to your right - reasonable and easy to do.
