This is an entrance to the Barrio de Santa Cruz, the former Jewish quarter of the medieval city. Santa Cruz is bordered by the Jardines de Murillo, also to be visited.

Retiro Obrero es una barriada histórica proyectada en 1924 por el arquitecto José Gómez Millán en estilo regionalista sevillano, logrando además los objetivos sociales fijados por los promotores. Con sus casitas adosadas unifamiliares con jardín, el barrio responder a los ideales benéficos e higienistas de las grandes obras sociales de la dictadura de Primo de Rivera. Un paraíso de calidad de vida sobre la antigua Huerta de la Pintada y a lo largo de una avenida de Miraflores industrial, con las galeras de Aramburu, los vidrios de La Trinidad y el corcho de Armstrong, y las esencias de Bordas en la carretera de Carmona. Un dato curioso es que junto a los nombres de las calles aparecen unos curiosos textos biográficos cerámicos de las personas a las que estan dedicadas las viviendas, de los pocos casos que hay en el callejero de Sevilla.
