The National Restaurant Lička kuća was constructed in 1972 as a simple space with the feel of a traditional house in the Lika region, where guests can enjoy a traditional, local meal. The restaurant was fully refurbished in 2015 in the original Lika rustic style. The Lička kuća restaurant is built on two stories, with a total seating capacity of 270. The restaurant is situated on the state road DC429, just opposite the northern entrance to the national park (Entrance 1).
At the centre of the restaurant is the open hearth, where lamb is roasted on a spit and the Lika delicacies are prepared under the iron bell. Visitors can also view many artefacts typical of the daily lives of the Lika fami

Caves of Barać are located some six kilometres to the east of Rakovica (highway Zagreb-Split), just over half a kilometre to the west from the centre of the village of Nova Kršlja. Entrances to all three caves from the north are called Baraćeve Brine. At the bottom of Brine, between the entrances to the caves, is Baraćevac spring, which, together with two smaller springs (without name) form Kršlja stream that merges with the Suvaja stream some twenty meters downstream. Kršlja flows several kilometres through the field, and at its eastern part, through a series of pits, enters the Varićak Cave, where it accounts for the greatest amount of water mass in its channels.

With its branches, the Gacka River is 61 km long. Its characteristics are not typical of karst flow. It has a very slow, quiet and permanent flow and shows almost no significant oscillations of changes in temperature . The average annual temperature is 9.4°C, which is a favourable condition for the expansion of salmonide fish species. The Gacka River is famous for stream trout the world over. Fishing season opens on 1 March and finishes on 31 October.

Nikola Tesla, a world-renowned scientist and inventor, was born on 10th July, 1856 in the village of Smiljan, not far from the city of Gospić, where he began his quest to discover the mysteries of nature. He became one of the greatest scientific minds of all time and his great achievements have contributed immensely to the development and welfare of mankind.
One of the great men who have influenced mankind the most, Nikola Tesla died alone and poor in the New Yorker Hotel, New York City on 7th January, 1943, at the age of 87.
To celebrate Tesla's life and achievements, on the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Republic of Croatia has proclaimed the year of 2006 as "Tesla' Year" and his name has been honoured with his own Memorial Centre in his native village.
