This place is popular with local chefs who come after their shifts to enjoy the food and lively/loud atmosphere. Smaller tapas-style plates of deliciousness. Try the brussel sprouts, they may make you consider vegetarianism. Not a cheap place to eat though.

My favourite breakfast place and it's only a short walk from the suite. Usually, there is a lineup between 10-12 on the weekends. I get the full Scottish Breakfast for $14.95 and I'm good until dinner.

Reliably good Mexican food, even if the service can be hit or miss. Located across from the Belfry Theather in Fernwood Square (Gladstone Avenue and Fernwood Road).

The ultimate in handcrafted hipster ice cream. Local, organic, and f'in delicious. Get an ice cream sandwich here on a hot summer day and you can thank me later. The owner also makes something for everyone: dairy-free, gluten-free and even vegan choices are available. I pick one of the 7 rotating flavours and eat it while people watching on the many benches around the shop. The only thing they don't have are cones, because they would lose their hipster credentials if they served ice cream in cones.

Throughout the neighbourhood, you may notice painted telephone poles. Since 2011, hundreds of poles have been decorated as part of the Fernwood Pole Painting Project using paint salvaged from the landfill. Lots are done by neighbourhood children, like the one outside our house :)
