Food Scene

The perfect place to grab a pastry and cup of coffee before hitting the downtown shops. Bryan the owner and baker takes great pride in making his baked goods, and in our opinion couldn't be any better! A must try is the Almond Croissant. The Quiche is outstanding, worth the wait. The Coffee is great, and the Ambiance is awesome.

Ian Boden, the Chef at the Shack was a national semi-finalist for the James Beard award "Best Chef in America" in 2013, and again in 2017 for his newest restaurant "The Shack". This Restaurant is a "can't miss" for those that appreciate truly fine American cuisine. The greatest part is that it is only a block away!

Perfect place to go right before or after a show at "the Blackfriars Playhouse", and our favorite spot for a "special occasion meal", if you want fine food and drink at its best, Zynodoa is the place to go. The service is always a step above, just like the food which is top notch. If not for "the Shack", Zynodoa would be the clear cut winner for best restaurant in town. Its a close race.

Anna the owner of Latitudes always has a smile on her face, and her great disposition is reflected in the international vibe of her shop. Filled with the finest fair trade goods from all over the world, including jewelry, leather good and clothes, Latitudes is a must when heading down Beverley street, and is often our first stop when we head downtown with guests. Anna often personally makes the trip herself, so the source is guaranteed, and the quality is clear.
