Food Scene
A large, modern food court on the top floor of the Kandy City Centre, and probably the best place to eat in Kandy.
It is reasonably priced, very clean and there us a variety of fairly 'authentic' Thai, Indian, Italian and Chinese food.
You can get a meal for around Rs450 to 600, which is cheap compared to other tourist oriented places.
The Pad Thai is great!
The Italian food is the only disappointment.
The payment system is odd - you get a pre-paid card from which they deduct the cost of your food.
You actually pay for the food on your way out.

A very good south Indian restaurant and its quality has been consistent for the last 5 years we have been eating there.

The first University in Sri Lanka, it set in an enormous campus of a thousand or so acres very close to the Botanical Gardens.
You can walk around as there are main roads that cross the campus grounds.
Look out for the Sarachchandra Open-Air Theatre, if you are lucky there might be a play on in the evening and entrance is very cheap.

The upstairs balcony is one of the nicest places to have a beer in Kandy town.
The food from the upstairs menu is pricey and the quality is only OK.
Snacks from the bar menu downstairs are cheaper, better and quite substantial.
You can drink amongst the local office crowd in the courtyard.
If the Sri Lankan cricket team is playing, they show the match on a large screen in the courtyard.
