This gem is located in the King William District. The restaurant was built in the 1860s as home to Carl Guenther, founder of the adjacent Pioneer Flour Mill. This mill still produces White Wings products to this day. The kitchen is too small to accommodate dinner guests, so grab a delicious breakfast or lunch there sometime during your stay and save time to explore beautiful Victorian homes in the King William neighborhood. 205 E Guenther StThis gem is located in the King William District. The restaurant was built in the 1860s as home to Carl Guenther, founder of the adjacent Pioneer Flour Mill. Gene and I went here on our first date in 1990. Los Barrios is a little out of the way from E-Co Lofts, but worth the drive. This restaurant has expanded several times since we first visited. The atmosphere is still welcoming, the food is delicious and the margaritas are tasty, too. These days, the founding matriarch's daughter, Diana, takes time to make her way through the dining area to chat with guests. Mon-Thu 10A-10P, Fri & Sat 10A-11P, Sun 9A-10P

So many things to see and do on the River. Both tourists and locals alike love to spend time here. Riverboats offer tours as well as dinner cruises. We love Casa Rio Mexican restaurant. Make reservations on busy nights or plan to go early and have a drink while watching the people & boats go by.

I came to San Antonio in 1984 to work at this zoo. Coming from New England to Texas, I thought I would be working in a desert environment. I was so wrong! The San Antonio River runs through this zoo, creating a lush, beautiful place with a wonderful collection of species from all over the world.
