The Omni Grove Park Inn is a historic Inn in Asheville. It has been visited by presidents and movie stars alike. In the fall, gingerbread houses adorn its halls, and as Christmas nears, there are beautiful Christmas trees throughout. People stroll its halls, sit and chat in front of the massive fireplaces, shop in the cute shops there, or dine in one of their fabulous restaurants. Typically Friday night is seafood buffet night at one of their restaurants. This is one of our favorite spots for a special occasion. *Reservations are required for the restaurants.

Sometime in your life, you simply MUST come to Weaverville/Asheville during “leaf season.” This is the magical time of year when the leaves turn all shades of yellow, orange, red, coral. Driving around town is a pleasure, but driving up on the Blue Ridge Parkway and seeing the colors all across the mountain ranges is awe inspiring. The difficulty is that the leaves don’t change, and don’t “peak,” at the same time every year. We can be pretty certain that this will occur in October (usually mid-to-late October), but there is no way to know definite dates. Our favorite thing to do when “leaf peeping,” is to drive up the Parkway, stop at overlooks to see the mountain ranges and the leaf colors, and then stop at Pisgah Inn for their a-ma-zing French Silk Pie —all the way. A treat for royalty! * Part of the year, the road to Pisgah Inn is closed. We suggest you check before making the drive. *Call to ask if reservations are available in their restaurant. * The restaurant closes for the season on or about Oct. 31.

Downtown Weaverville is walking distance (for most people) from Mountain Air Oasis. Once you are on Main Street, the stroll is all on flat ground--which is unusual for this part of the world! Our town is full of small-town charm, yet has plenty of modern amenities, as well. You will see the restaurants listed in this Guidebook, lots of wonderful shops, a couple of coffee shops, a pharmacy that serves ice cream, and even a library. Definitely worth the walk (or drive) up Main Street, Weaverville.

Stoney Knob is one of our favorite restaurants. It is eclectic both in decor and menu, and is located at 337 Merrimon Avenue in Weaverville. It’s a super popular spot, not only for visitors to our area, but also for locals. They are closed on Mondays. Sundays their menu is considered their “brunch.” We enjoy having lunch there. NOTE: Dinner can be a bit pricey.
