Cycling routes

The area is famous for its many bike routes, from leisurely rides along the river, to challenging day-long mountain routes to hairy down-hill adventures. Below are some of the most popular.
A much loved route by cyclist and walkers alike, Ponale offers gorgeous lake views and a charming rest stop mid way perched on the cliff side. Options to continue the route to Punta Larici (stunning views!) and Ledro Lake

This gorgeous bike route connect Torbole to Castel Toblino over 26km of beautiful and tranquil scenery, mostly flat and cycling through vineyards, olive groves, small villages, the shores of lakes of Cavedine and Toblino and the Sarca River. It can be done in its entirety or only parts. Some of our favourite bits are Arco to Torbole (via lunch @ BikeFarm) and Arco to Ceniga or Cavedine (via a stop at Bike&Wine)

Mountain routes - easy

Typical mountain rifugio accessible via various hiking routes (one of which is a short walk from the closest car park… but the drive up there is via very narrow and winding mountain roads so not for everyone!). From there you can attempt harder hikes to the ‘cross’ or other peaks, do a an easy ‘loop’ walk or just enjoy a plate of polenta!

Mountain routes - intermediate

Offering varied terrain and spectacular lake views, this is one of the most popular hikes in the area. There is a mountain restaurant at the top where you can enjoy traditional Trentino cuisine. It is a moderately difficult hike, with several uphill stretches. Timing will vary on fitness levels but may take between 2 and 3h to reach the top. A bit less to return.

Easily accessible from the centre of Riva, a relatively short bit steep climb brings you to the Santa Barbara chapel and offers spectacular areal views of the lake. About 1-1.5h up and 1h down, always depending on your fitness level of course!

Vie Ferrate (advance routes requiring climbing equipment)

These are technical climbs requiring harness, helmet and ferrata set. Only attempt them if you are a confident climber and familiar with these type of routes. If not, consider a course or a guide. Adriano can help and advise on any of there.
A personal favourite with stunning views - but long, exposed and challenging (the hardest in the area so only attempt if appropriate). Access is from Sarche - about 20 min drive from the house - and can be a bit tricky to find so ask locals or use a good map.

Fantastic route but very exposed and VERY popular … so plan ahead and be prepared (both physically and mentally to deal with the crowds!). Access is via an intermediate hike or an easy walk if you take the Paganella cable car (~1h drive to cable car or access hike starting point).
Ferrata Delle Aquile

Lovely Ferrata by the side of a waterfall, but very verticale and gets crowded in season. Easy access from Passo del Ballino (20 min drive from the house + approx 30 min walk).
Ferrata "Signora delle Acque"
