Fishing
The US Fish and Wildlife Service supplies over 16 million trout eggs to hatcheries around the country from this hatchery. Visitor center and raceways are open to the public from 7 am to 3 pm M-F. In addition, Erwin National Fish Hatchery provides many exciting visitor opportunities for a close up view of the fish production process. Visitors can observe spawning procedures, wildlife, beehives, and pollinator gardens. You can enjoy hands-on activities, a leisurely picnic, walking the dog, or hiking the nature trail.

Ellis offers a very wide range of fishing types, all of which I utilize in my own fishing.
I enjoy nothing more than sharing these experiences with others, watching anglers progress, and seeing others enjoy their time on the water.

Food/Groceries
If you are arriving in the evening or on a Sunday, we recommend bringing some food /groceries with you. There are nearby produce stands and an Amish food store but they close at 6pm and the the food store is not open on Sundays. The closest supermarket is 20 minutes away in Erwin.

Bald Eagle Sightings
In the Summer months, we typically see bald eagle activity twice daily. Around 6-6:30 am we see the and fly up the river and again around 7-7:30pm.
