A great pub about 5 miles north of the Goat Shed. If you have brought bikes along, then (once the 100m of A420 is out the way) it's a really nice quiet bike ride, and who doesn't love a bike ride that has a pub at the end!

The Avon Gorge Hotel is great find. On a summers day there is nowhere better to enjoy a gin and tonic than on the sun terrace, looking out over the gorge towards the bridge. It does get busy, so find a spot and get the other half to queue for a drink!

Brilliant tea shop on the High St, Marshfield, with amazing selection of delicious home made cakes. Sweetapples also provides take away food and has a great selection of bites to eat in, including a full English and continental breakfasts - all very reasonably priced. A must!

Our local independent convenience store - recently relocated across the road following a devastating fire in 2022. It's less than a 2 min walk from the Goat Shed, and opens 9am until 7pm - Monday to Saturday, and 9am till 12pm on Sundays. It has a great selection of fresh and frozen produce, as well as a fine selection of cheeses, cold meats, fruit, vegetables, beer and wine. Central Stores stocks a wide range of the famous Marshfield Ice cream - often new flavours are trialed in the shop. The also sell Newspapers

Largely unchanged, sightseers gather around a white dish in a darkened room, as a spooky, silent image of the outside surroundings is projected onto the dish - it's cheap and it's cool! Worth a visit. Don't forget to have a go on the slippy rocks between the camera obscura and the bridge. Generations of bums have polished the rocks into super slippery slide that the kids love!

A great way to cross from one side of the harbour to the other. The ferry also goes all the way down to Bristol Temple Meads train station, making it a really fun way to get around and see Bristol from the water (and without the traffic)

SS great Britain is a great visit for all the family. Brunel's ship was the first steam ship to have a propeller, and plied the seas for many years. After being wrecked and abandoned in the South Atlantic, she was towed back to the very dry dock where she was built, and diligently restored.

A 3 mile private section of railway allows restored steam engines and old diesel locomotives to pull passengers along the beautiful Avon Valley. A cycle and foot path runs alongside, giving a great view of the trains as they pass, and come back!
