I love visiting Belvedere House & Gardens! It has beautiful walks around the estate with amazing views across Lough Ennell. The walled garden is buzzing with nature and colour, a perfect place to awaken your senses.
Belvedere is also perfect for families, it has two playgrounds, a fairy garden and a fabulous little cafe.
If you fancy a bit of history, this place is flooded with tales of jealousy and imprisonment. In fact, Robert Rochford who owned Belvedere House locked up his poor wife in Gallstown House for many years and Willow Lodge is located on the old Gallstown Estate. Gallstown house, before it was demolished, was situated just a couple of hundred metres up the road from here.
Belvedere House & Gardens is definitely a place to visit and only about 10 minutes from Willow Cottage.

They also offer tours of the castle on certain days, best to check in advance. i am yet to tour the castle, but it is next on my list!

A spectacular beech tree forest, full of wildlife and lots of different trails to explore.
I advise you to take a photo of the map and the trail you wish to follow at the beginning. I unfortunately didn't one time and ended up slightly (most definitely) lost and then it started to get dark!

This is a great shop! A bit more on the pricey side, but stocks the most beautiful home decor, gifts, food & wine!
It also has a lovely restaurant which is very popular! They do have a good menu, but the vegan options can be limited. But they are accommodating and have rustled up some yummy vegan dishes for me.

Lilliput Adventure Centre is fantastic for outdoor activities such as canoeing and archery. They regularly hold events such as Celtic Warrior where you take part in swimming, cycling & running over three days.
I attended The Yoga Picnic there is year and I could not have chosen a better location over looking the breathtaking Lough Ennell, it was so relaxing and a beautiful place to practice yoga and meditation.
