The Munambum fishing harbour is a must visit, good vibe and ambience, on most days you get the best tapioca and spicy fish curry with a wide variety of shell fish in the restaurants along the area. It remains mostly closed during the monsoons. Otherwise if you are the adventurous kind the early morning fish auctions are an experience in itself, very unique to kerala, probably the best place to buy fresh seafood in the kerala.

Breakwater point
Situated at the northern end of Cherai beach, Break-water point is where the river Periyar flows into the Arabian Sea. It is a perfect place to sit and enjoy the views and watch local fishermen in their traditional canoes and colorful boats. Perfect spot to view dazzlingly beautiful sunsets.

Family friendly Beer parlour - Baywatch Restaurant
Facing the beach, this is the only "family friendly" beer and wine parlour in the area, you can relax on a hot afternoon with local food and chilled beer, one of my all time personal favourites in Cherai.

Popular across Kerala, palm toddy, a mildly alcoholic beverage made from the sap of palm trees, is served along with food at the local toddy shop on the main beach area, check with my caretaker before you venture.

Cherai beach along with nearby beaches are generally good swimmers beaches, unless its the monsoon season and told not to, the sea bed is not so deep and is considerably safe for swimming.
