The Secret Sweet Spots

City/town information

Since the first visitors set foot on our captivating coastline in 1514, the Lowcountry has had a uniquely transformative effect. Maybe it’s something in the magnetic pull of the tide, the sun-warmed salt air or jasmine-filled gardens. A slower, sweeter pace where moss-draped live oaks dance with the breeze and Antebellum mansions look out over historic streets. Where Gullah descendants weave artwork from sweetgrass as fishing boats dot a glimmering harbor and evening brings a spectacular watercolor sunset. Come discover for yourself why Southern Living named Beaufort “The South’s Best Small Town,” or why Garden & Gun calls us a “Southern Dream Town.” Come find your inner coastal.

Food scene

This link provides a great overview of the restaurants downtown: https://explorebeaufortsc.com/dining-downtown-beaufort/ You really can't go wrong with the restaurants downtown. It depends on what you're hungry for, and whether or not you want to make a reservation. For any restaurant you're interested in, I highly recommend checking to see if they take reservations. Most nights you can get into any restaurant if you're willing to sit at the bar. Several restaurants offer live music, especially on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Stroll the waterfront while you wait for your table, or grab a drink at one place before venturing on to another. There are also lots of galleries and shops on Bay Street, Port Republic, and the side streets between Bay St and Craven St.

A locals favorite. Just up the Ribault Rd in Port Royal, the Sands beach offers a quick sand and sun fix. Check the tides - during high tide the parking lot floods. Low to mid-tide is best. Just across the road from the Port Royal Beer Gardens.
