Our Favourite Places to Eat
We’re healthy eaters so here’s a mix of our favourites.
This is our go to place for healthy breakfast and lunch. Sharon is amazing, the smoothies and bowls are flavourful. You won’t even know they’re vegan. Good coffee too. Must try: sun seeker smoothie, vegan pad Thai, brownie. Pro tip: order online to skip the line and check hours before going. Also, check to make sure they're open, they close through the winter.

Downtown Ucluelet is experiencing a rejuvenation. Lots of cafes and hip little shops. Park your car along the main drag, and spend time bouncing shop to shop. The area by the aquarium will give you great views of the water. Bring your rain jacket or umbrella just in case.

Tofino is the other side of the peninsula and although is busier, it’s worth a visit. The energy is a little different (sometimes crazy busy) but take a breath of patience and try to enjoy. It’s 30 minutes drive from the cabin. Spend the whole day by stopping at a beach and grabbing some lunch in Tofino.

The Wild Pacific trail is very unique and very different from what you’ll find in Tofino or the park. It has many section of trail that span the length of Ucluelet peninsula. Think big trees, and sea cliffs over water. Bird life viewing, and little stops along the way. The trail itself is not very rugged and is quite accessible. Pick a section to tackle in an hour or two, or spend the whole day exploring it all. Wildpacifictrail.com has maps!

If you’re gonna spend money on things, might as well spend it at places that are truly part of our local community.
This is a great place to shop for First Nations artwork and souvenirs. It’s is indigenous owned and has many Nuu-chah-nulth art works. Pro tip: there is a great smoked salmon shop next door. If it’s closed, simply go back into the artwork shop and ask them to open it.

Caravan has the perfect balance of locally made souvenirs, greeting cards, clothing, books, and many things you may not think about. You are supporting a local woman-owned business! It’s a great sign when locals shop here too.

It's our favourite gift shop in town, with great skincare products, greeting cards, and housewares. Everything is truly environmentally considered and thoughtfully curated, and the staff are all very nice.

The local trick is to grab some snacks and drinks and pre-made sandwiches and head to the beach for a picnic if the restaurants are jammed packed during lunch hour. Also, if you need an ingredient, just call them to see if they have it.

Also known as the Redd Fish Outpost, this is a local environmental non-profit that does a lot of work to restore fish habitat. However, they have amazing clothing and all the money from the shop goes straight to the charity. Pro tip: you’ll look like a local rocking a Redd Fish hat or hoodie. And you’ll feel good knowing that these guys are a HUGE part of the local community. If you’re gonna buy clothes might as well make it matter.

The Ukee aquarium is really really cool even for adults, not just kids. They temporarily bring in local sea creatures for education and then release them back.
You’ll learn tonnes! Pro-tip: dress warmly, even in summer. It can be chilly inside to keep the water cold for the critters.

It’s the best pizza on the west coast of the island. Get the large greens salad too to feel healthy. These guys play by their own rules so it’s best to not expect them to be open and then be pleasantly surprised. We love this place. The staff are always so kind and friendly and pizza is top-notch (best on the island???). LAtely, they don't take phone calls, you just have to go in with your finger crossed. Cash/Interac only.

The Break Bistro is a good place when your crew wants lots of options. Definitely busy during brunch hour, so expect lines during that time. But sandwiches/bowls/deserts/baked good are their jam.

Groups book tours for a chill time to catch a sunset on the water, go for a dip up the inlet, see whales, or have a drink and pull up crab traps. No stress, get away from crowds. The tip is to reach out to Brody or Kelly and have them help you suggest based on how much time you have.
