Food scene

In a city that has many craft breweries, Kunstler stands out as one of the best and my personal favorite. Their beer is everything you would want out of a craft brewery. Their food and their atmosphere put the entire brewery over the top, with German-style eats like Bratwurst and fried Brussels sprouts.

One of the few legitimately great all day Brunch places in SA, Blush is the perfect place to go after long nights of staying up late with friends or family. Blush does more than just scratch that Brunch itch, Their upscale take on classic brunch items is a real experience. As you can see in the picture. Their French Toast is anything but average. The cocktails in the 2nd picture are mimosas! Really really good Mimosas. If I were vacationing downtown San Antonio, Blush would be how I start the day, everyday. If you’re my guest, let me know if you go! The Owner/ Chef is a business partner of mine. I may be able to get you something extra!

Easily my favorite daytime restaurant when the weather is nice, Camp Outpost is quickly becoming a favorite for locals and visitors. The food, cocktails, and outside decor all have a camping theme. Usually, I’m not a fan of restaurants that have themes, but Camp Outpost pulls it off by not making the camping theme too overwhelming. There are plenty of picnic tables outside and seating indoors as well. There's even a retro Airstream that they converted into a detached bar! Order unique cocktails, like a smoked old-fashioned or entrees from their Wood-Fired Rotisserie. They also feature a contactless menu system! It is located between Southtown and the LoneStar Arts District, right off South Alamo and S Flores.

The Fruteria is another excellent restaurant from San Antonio’s most popular Chef, Johnny Hernadez. The Fruteria is much smaller than his other restaurants (La Gloria and Burgerteca), but that adds to the charm of this restaurant. The food and atmosphere here are fantastic. The prices are very reasonable too, especially considering that it feels like you’re eating at a much more expensive restaurant while you’re here. Foodies and casual diners will find something to like about this place, especially once you get to the Margaritas.

If you’re our guest, this casual but frequently rewarded Pizza place is just across the street! Have a few glasses of wine with some of their apps for a perfect afternoon! It fits the aesthetic of the Neighborhood.

Instead of Driving Downtown, Take a Double-Decker Bus!

For most visitors at Airbnbs in SA, there is really only two options to get around downtown. Uber is a great option, but you need to have an exact plan on where you are going and where you want to explore. Luckily, you have a third option when you stay here… Red double decker buses called City Sight Seeing Tours, they are also know as “Hop on Hop Off”. They added a bus stop right off S Alamo in front of a Gelato Shop called “South Alamode”. Payment is easy and worth it if you go to all 18 stops

It’s Probably going to be very hot outside.

Unless it’s winter time, you can bet on it being uncomfortably hot outside. Although most get used to it, some do not handle it well. Just don’t over dress. My go to is Shorts, flip flops, cap and sun glasses, like I’m going to the beach. 99% of the businesses around here are ok with that, and don’t expect people to be dressed nicely. Bring water when headed out!

Transportation from Major Events around downtown.

Spurs games, concerts, fiesta, conventions and other busy events around downtown are often a nightmare to get out of. People at these events all tend to leave at the same time. At Spurs games, many Uber drivers won’t pick up from there because of the disorganization. Try taking a electric scooter (Bird) or a city bike if you can. Use the Bird App to reserve the closest scooter to you right as you get outside. At the very least, walk a block or two away from everyone and then try ordering a Uber. Some people arrange for pick up well from a private driver or limo before the game starts.

Packing for a Downtown San Antonio Vacay.

The heat and humidity here can get really bad and ruin your day if you’re not dressed right. I would pack enough dry fit shirts and shorts. Dry fit work out stuff seems to be perfect for me personally. If you didn’t choose us for your stay, pack OFF! Brand repellant. We supply it, most don’t however and mosquitos love our hot weather!

Stand out reoccurring Events

Every first Friday, Locals flock from the suburbs to hangout at the places like Blue Star Brewery, and Bar 1919 and plenty of bargains if your looking for art. Other stand outs include the weekly Farmers Market at the Pearl (so much fun), 2nd Saturday in SoFlo which is another event you can walk to from here. Event goes late at night at “Freight”. Daily art exhibits from The Witte, SA art Museum and the Mcnay are must do if you like art!
