Watson’s Vet’s Club is the oldest bar in town. Built in 1896 you can feel the history in this beautiful old bar.
Part of the old historic “Whisky Row”, “The Vet’s” survived two fires when all of downtown burned. It actually saved the town twice during those fires, and it’s long hall brings you right back to the old west. There was a brothel upstairs with 8 rooms and a madame to keep the men coming back thirsty for more.
If you look real closely at the ceiling, you can see a small cut out where a bucket would be lowered down to the bar, for the bartender to put drinks in. Then pulled up for the "patrons" upstairs.
The bar itself came to Shasta by train in the early 30’s and has been here ever since.
The building is haunted and has many tales to be told by both former and current employees and owners. Make sure to ask the staff.
Great place for a hot beverage in the winter time! Hot toddy? Hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps anyone?

The park has an ice rink in winter, there is a skate park, a dog park and a spectacular view of the Mountain. This is the location of the summer concerts. Play equipment for the kiddos; slides, climbing structure, swings. Lots of lawn for picnicking.

Great place to kayak, swim and picnic! The trail that circumvents the lake is about a 7 mile loop and you can start the hike by parking across from the tennis courts of the Resort. The trail is flat and shady most of the way.
The campground on the lake has a great little beach where you can rent kayaks and paddleboards. The campground has a grill where you can have a cold beer and a pizza, salad or other pretty decent food for a campground! Best frosty cones in Mount Shasta found at the little camp store! Hike the lake trail and you'll find yourself at the Lake Siskiyou Campground about halfway around the lake. Stop for a frosty of a beer then complete the hike!

If you have a few days in town, make the drive over highway 89 to see the Lower, Middle and Upper McCloud Falls. In the summer take a dip! Great place for photos!
