Matagorda Is the 3rd oldest town in Texas, Est 1827. It is a great local fishing community, with local deli stores, bait shop and beach gear stores, only 10 minutes from Daze Beach Houses.
The most popular activity in Matagorda is visiting the beach. It is also a fishing hot spot on the Texas coast providing access to both East and West Matagorda Bays, Matagorda Beach, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Matagorda Is the 3rd oldest town in Texas, Est 1827. It is a great local fishing community, with local deli stores, bait shop and beach gear stores, only 10 minutes from Daze Beach Houses.

East Matagorda Bay Paddlesports Park
Beach RoadOne of 12 launch sites close to Daze Beach Houses for kayaking and paddle boarding. We are surrounded by water whether our guests enjoy paddling on the sea, the Colorado River or Matagorda Bays - it is a very special place for paddling due to it’s large selection of easy access sites.
The Matagorda County Birding Nature Center (MCBNC) covers 34 beautiful acres and is located on the Colorado River in Bay City, Texas. MCBNC has six botanical gardens and three major eco-systems to enjoy.
Our Center offers a riverfront location that makes it great for paddlers to both put-in and take-out their crafts. All boating fans from kayakers and canoe enthusiasts to rafters enjoy the river that rolls by the Birding Nature Center. The river provides an ideal setting for introductory kayaking training.

The gates are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, daylight to dark based on the seasons. Entrance Fees $3.00 per person or

Rio Colorado Golf Course is a picturesque public golf course designed by Gary Player. Built in 1993, Rio Colorado offers an exciting round for all skill levels with yardages ranging from just over 5,000 all the way to the championship tees to a challenging 6855 yards. Located by the Colorado River and surrounding wetlands don't be surprised to spot plenty of wildlife including deer, ducks, rabbits, cranes, hawks and alligators.

Historic
The Matagorda County Museum is housed in
the town’s original 1918 U.S. Post Office. The
museum offers four permanent exhibits and
several temporary exhibits each year, giving
fresh attractions for returning visitors.
In the museum’s basement, “Our Town” is a
turn-of-the-century playroom, complete with
a corral, general store, barber shop, jail, craft
room and an opera house that allows children a
taste of pioneer life.
