carcassonne is situated at 40 min drive from our location. You have to visit the citadel of the old city and afterwards have a nice lunch in the new city and do some shopping.

Climbing the mountain towards the Monsegur castle of the cathars is worth a good climb to see the ancient ruin from what once were a beautiful castle and enjoy the views. At this castle the last cathare were killed and burned.

From 15 july till 29 August, this beautifull jardin can be visit. Very special place were you walk between sculptures made out of natural elements, een mix between nature and art. almost every Sunday there is music and performances, very pleasant to go with children as well.

Chalabre, nice little friendly village with great facilities; you find a nice bakery, two butchers a little carrefour and tabac shop, several restaurants and two bar's. You even find a garage with a gas station. Once a week on Saturday on the main market square you find the morning market until 12.30. From 4 till 7th of August a music festival, Chalabre en serenade is organised, with my favourite part "serenades aux balcons". Furthermore on 5min distance by car from Chalabre you find the beautiful lake Lac de Monbel. A big lake were you can swim, rent a kayak or go sailing. in the summer you find a very nice bar were you can eat and drink and in the evening live music with great musicians.
