The reason I love living here, Plymbridge woods is on the doorstep, accessible from the country lane. Ramble, cycle and explore. For birdwatching enthusiasts’ Peregrine falcons breed on an old quarry face within the woodland. Kingfishers and Dippers can be seen along the river, and lesser spotted woodpecker and tree pipit are found within the woods. The neighbouring deer often visit too.

Beaches
One of my most visited beaches. Miles of sandy beach great for watersports. Grab a bite to eat and drink from the gastrobus in the Bantham beach car park.
Get up a little earlier to save the best beach spot... turn right when you reach the beach and you will see some cliffs ahead which provide sheltered coves which is great to put the windbreaker up and enjoy a little space from the main stretch of beach.
For the dog friend beach take the right hand coast path over the headland and keep walking until you come to the estuary. This is a breezier spot so much better for your furry friends. Please do check the website for more information specific restrictions for dogs.

One of my most visited beaches. Miles of sandy beach great for watersports. Grab a bite to eat and drink from the gastrobus in the Bantham beach car park.

At low tide you can walk to Burgh Island and often at high tide you can catch a lift via sea tractor where you can enjoy a pint and basic snacks at the Pilgrim Inn.

The pub has a traditional and welcoming feel and the outside gardens with its many heaters is a lovely place to relax.
Easily accessible pub with rustic countryside decor and a cosy atmosphere. Food tasty and menu is varied.

A lovely gastro pub which is worth a visit. It is on route back from Bigbury/Bantam Devon beaches. Food is good and staff are friendly. There are tables inside and out but as with most Devon pubs booking advisable.

A lovely family adventure park. Plenty to keep the children entertained. The adventure playgrounds are great fun and you can cool off in the lake where there is a Pirate ship, rope swings and a barriered beach area for little ones all included in the entrance fee. There are additional paid for activities such as canoeing and kayaking, water zorbing, and high ropes.

A lovely family adventure park. Plenty to keep the children entertained. Perfect for a rainy day Plymouths National Marine Aquarium situated near the Barbican with an array of fresh and sea fish, sharks, feeding sessions and underwater tunnel.

Lovely family run rescue centre and a great place to visit in the spring/summer months for a few hours or combine with the steam railway. However to get the most out of your visit, I would recommend visiting at otter feeding time, you can even book a VIP experience and feed the otters. Butterflies are usually out in abundance especially on sunny days.

Great trip to Totnes and the scenery along the river Dart is really beautiful. Dog friendly also. Its worth checking the calendar as they do themed days out throughout the year.

My nephew is a real marbles enthusiast and loves the shop and mini museum so if in the area worth a quick visit. The cafe also does a lovely breakfast or lunch, great selection and has tables inside and out with a fun kids menu.

Recently visited and certainly had an entertaining 4 hours. Would recommend taking a blanket for a cuddle with piglets, rabbits, guinea pigs and mice. Loads of other animals that you can feed such as goats and sheep but also there are ponys chickens and cows. Great entertainment for young children, however my mum and dad enjoyed it just as much. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. A great family oriented place.

Salcombe is definitely worth a visit! Very pretty costal town which is about a 50 minute drive.. has an array of shops, good selection of pubs and restaurants, beautiful beaches and an abundance of activities for all.
