This is one of our favorite hiking spots and it is a beautiful scenic drive to get there! If you go, be sure to stop by the Lost Maples Café for a nice meal and some homemade pie!

This is fairly close to the Tiny and a great park for horseback riding. Some people hike or mountain bike here, but, in our opinion, it really is better suited for horses. There are some dude ranches nearby that you can get in touch with regarding trail rides.

Caliente rents Harleys and we have some of the best riding in all of Texas right in our backyard. There are a couple of great day trips from our Tiny that we would very highly recommend. Let us know if you are interested and we'll share our favorite scenic routes with you.

Take Hwy. 16 from our place towards Medina, head West on 337 towards Vanderpool, then 183 North for just a bit before getting back on 337 West to Leakey. Loop back by going South to Utopia and catch 470 back to Bandera. We like the Frio Motorcycle Stop for beer and burgers while in Leakey.

Fredericksburg is just a short drive away (about an hour), and is one of our guest's favorite little towns to daytrip to with so many shops, restaurants, and wineries. It's usually pretty busy but well worth the visit. Check out Mac's while you're there for some great BBQ!

This is a must visit spot and just a short drive from Tiny. We love to day trip to Luckenbach for a cold beer and kicking back in the shade listening to some local guitar pickers and singer songwriters swapping songs.

Swimming / Kayaking
As far as swimming holes, here are our recommendations on a couple of really cool spots. There is a river crossing on the Medina River at Peaceful Valley Road just outside of Bandera on 16 hwy. It's pretty close, about 30 minutes and it's shaded with some beautiful big Cyprus trees. It's got an area that might be 3-4 feet deep but most of it is more shallow. It's a great spot to drop in your kayak.
Another good spot is in Camp Wood near Los Rios Campground. It's a longer, but beautiful drive with some scenic overlooks. The swimming hole is very clear and deep, maybe 12-14 feet in spots.
