Go up the road past Tomok then veer right to go up ontop of the mountain. The entire area is very beautiful with good hiking and views of lake. Going southwest along the road and trying small dirt roads from there is more scenic than going toward the center (west) or to the northeast from the top of the mountain. Going the whole way around Samosir that way will take 5 to 8 hours (an entire day) by motorbike so plan accordingly.
