Favourite dog-friendly beaches
There are many beautiful beaches in the South Hams. Here are my favourites, particularly those that are good for those on four legs as well as two! Remember that you’ll get a lot more beach to run on at low tide!
National Trust Car park right next to the beach, South Milton Sands welcomes dogs all year round. Humans can grab a bite to eat or a coffee at The Beach House.

Best to go when the tide is out. Limited parking but as a result Wonwell beach is usually wonderfully empty of people. I’ve spent many an evening sitting by a driftwood fire knowing the dogs, who are welcome all year round, can have a drink from the fresh water stream.

Dogs only allowed on the part of the beach at the mouth of the Avon Estuary between May and October. However, still a great walk and swim for them especially at low tide. Round it off with a pint at The Sloop.
