These are only some of the highlights. Starting from Launceston to the East Coast, then over to the North West. If travelling to Hobart, through the Midlands along the Heritage Highway, you will drive through Campell Town. Stop and enjoy refreshments beside the river. The North ends at Oatlands. You must detour to see this Heritage Sandstone Village.
Our local, and only northern, snowfields in winter, (the only other is Mount Mawson in the Mount Field National Park), is beautiful all year round. Take the drive up Jacobs Ladder for an adventure in itself. Seven ski lifts, walks, wildlife and rock climbing. Only 40kms from your rooms. This historic town is a point to catch the West Coast Wilderness Railway. The Gallery Museum is rich in local history. It is a copper mining town and the scenery can be disturbing as the hills have been denuded by over a century of activity. Not my favourite place.
